“Metech International Relocates its East Coast Facility” From Metech International, Inc. July 11, 2005 Worcester, MA - Metech International, a leading electronics recycling company, has relocated its East Coast headquarters and operations from Rhode Island to a new facility in Worcester, Massachusetts. This move was completed on July 1. Metech, which has been in Rhode Island since 1973, has been seeking a new location for several years to support its increased growth and to improve processing efficiency. “The electronics recycling business is a growing field, and we need to take steps to ensure we’re positioned to capitalize on these expanding opportunities,” said Andrew McManus, General Manager at Metech. “We’re changing our business model to become more efficient and while we’re sorry to leave Rhode Island, this relocation will help streamline our operations and expand our capacity.” As part of the move, the company will consolidate all of its precious metals recovery operations to its Gilroy, California plant, which will continue to recycle electronic equipment as well. To support this consolidation, we are launching a Capital Improvement Program for the California site that will improve our materials flow and increase roasting capacity. The Worcester facility will maintain some precious metal processing capabilities, but will focus on recycling electronics such as personal computers, wired and cellular phone systems, data processing and office equipment and is adding new shredding and other processing equipment to expand its capacity.
